Original Hot Boy Turk has
been on going what we hope will be only temporary legal issues, but
hasn’t let that hold him back from releasing a new album titled
Penitentiary Chances which got its title from Turk’s second album raw
and uncut. Turk actually has been writing while in jail however the cuts
on this album are prior to his arrest, Turk has stated that he plans on
recording a follow up to the album upon release which we will be looking
forward to.
I think Doin My Thang is one of the hardest tracks of the album; Turk
pops off with his gutter yet flamboyant style. Kenoe appears on the
track and also puts it down with a hot verse about his hustle from a kid
on up. This could easily be a single for the album, and should please
Turk's hood fans along with Killer, which is another raw and hard
hitting track that Turk rocks hard all the way thru, especially his last
verse which goes real hard.
I'm A Dog has an almost scary movie twist to the beat which was produced
by U.P. The hook goes hard with the organs complimenting the catchy
chorus. Turk does his thang hard here. Do it for the Money jumps in the
line up with a totally different vibe, the track was actually produced
by Turk himself. It's got a real nawlin's feel to it which Turk blazes
with his trademark southern slang style. Music Makes Me High is another
hot track that’s done with a reggae touch, Turk being a former heroin
addict raps about making music his anti drug, you could say we are
seeing a more mature yet still gutter and raw Turk on this album.
Heartache the first single off the album touches on subjects of being
locked up, coming up, spreading love, and doing good in general, Turk
laces this track nicely with a catchy head bobbin vibe, defiantly a real
joint. Other hot tracks off the album include Life’s A Gamble, Raw and
off the Chain, among others.
Now this is Turk's third album to date, and hopefully wont be the last.
Turk brings something to the table for all of his fans on this album;
you just can’t go wrong there. Were giving Penitentiary Chances 4.6 out
of 5 for its mixture of styles and raw lyrics provided by Turk and his
guest artists... make sure you cop the album which is in stores now. |
