Unsurprisingly EA decided
ton continue the success of Vendetta with a beefed up version of the
engine among a list of exciting new features. Taking things out of the
ring and into fight pits located in various night clubs you'll find
yourself matched up against a who's who of the rap industry anyone from
Snoop Dogg, X-Zibit, David Banner, Bonecrusher, Bubba Sparxxx to Method
and Redman, among many many more. I must admit it took me awhile to get
the hang of things as far as controls go. Starting out I found the game
a little hard to get used to as far as controls but it didn't take to
long to get them down, before I knew it I couldn't put it down. There's
so many different styles and possibilities its hard for things to get
old, the story line does a good job of switching up and keeping you
wanting more, it starts out where vendetta leaves off with D-Mob being
arrested, turns out you keep him from making it to jail and in return he
puts you in his crew of fighters having to prove yourself with none
other than your own fists your set up against Crow whom is played by
Snoop Dogg's fighters, the objective is to steal all the clubs from Crow
and his crew and push him out of NY. Now this is a mature game and
probably shouldn't be played by younger users, there are your occasional
scenes with foul language and of course being a fighting game some
pretty gruesome and violent fights. This is actually one of the first
games EA has put out with so much violence but hey its just so damn fun,
I personally received a surprisingly high level of satisfaction by
smashing Elephant Man's head repeatedly into the wall. The fighting is
extremely fast paced, you'll quickly find you self learning to stay on
your toes and have no mercy on your opponent as it comes down to who
gets one last move in for some of the matches. There is several ways to
beat your opponent first of all you need to put your opponent in his
danger zone and finishing him off with either a environmental attack
which would be throwing him into a wall or crowd who will actually help
you buy holding him so you can throw in a few cheap shots, throw him
back out into the fight pit, or maybe smash a bottle or other weapon
across his dome, etc... alliteratively you can use your own weapon which
are provided randomly by the crowd as well or use a blazing move, all of
which are great. The game has a variety of features that will keep you
entertained for days if not weeks, among your daily fighting you can hit
up your local clothing store which has a huge variety of clothing labels
and highly customizable styles. There's also Jacob the jewelers shop to
buy all of your ice from, a barber shop, and a gym where you train in
different fighting styles from street fighting to submissions, you can
also enhance your character in things like stamina, strength, and
toughness as well. All of your money and points are earned buy taking
over clubs and winning, thru out the game you also win trophies and
plaques for high scores, etc. The only cons I found for the game are
minor, in multiplayer or free for all mode if the players pan out in two
different direction its a bit hard to tell who's who, there's also a few
corners in some clubs when poles or walls simply obstruct your vision so
your basically fighting blind for a moment, the commenter audio dialog
also loops a little to often. Besides that this game is defiantly marked
in our eyes as one of the best games of 2004, with the huge variety of
entertainment and action you cant beat it. |
